Galaxy knows the nation-wide digital transition taking place by February 17, 2009, may be confusing for you. While we offer the following information to explain some of the relevant details of the transition, the bottom line is that we want to reassure you that the television (or televisions) you currently use to receive Galaxy’s cable service should NOT be negatively affected by the digital transition. You should be able to continue viewing your favorite programming without need of converter boxes, additional equipment, or new television sets.
Some highlights of the digital transition are as follows:
- After February 17, 2009, a television receiver with only an analog broadcast tuner will require a converter box to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation’s transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players and similar products.
- Analog TVs not connected to a service such as Galaxy’s cable service may need additional equipment (i.e. a converter box), or those TVs may have to be replaced by the consumer.
- Information about the DTV transition is available from www.DTV.gov, from Galaxy Cable at telephone number 1-800-EnjoyTV (1-800-365-6988) and www.GalaxyCable.com, and from www.dtv2009.gov, or you may dial 1-888-DTV-2009 for information about subsidized coupons for digital-to-analog converter boxes.
